This photo was sent by Bryan Goss.  He said this about it: "The flash was so bright I could see nothing for a few minutes, only what the camera got. We were about 30 ft from the pole. The strike or energy discharge cut a channel in the pole between the 2 wires and went partway down the pole.  I forgot to remove my skylight filter.  It caused the flair".  A zoom in on the pole shows chips flying from the explosion.
